MGK With Wiz Khalifa: The Lost American Tour - Darien, NY
By Tre Smith//Posted
"drove to buffalo, New York just to hang with friends….ended up DJing the VIP tent representing Cleveland DJs as a whole on the lost americana tour with Wiz Khalifa & MGK. First tour set outside of the city and seeing as it’s their last day on that tour, I’m super grateful and thought to tell the story.
Three and a half hours from home & a room full of new yorkers dressed like us, talking like us, showing MGK and Wiz love like they’re family. I’ve listened to MGK since he did signings at Avalon Exchange on Coventry, when he started from absolute zero. seeing him move a whole city outside ohio like that reminded me why I’m not lost in music.
standing next to Bonics that night put it all in perspective. I’ve done music with Live Nation since I was 16. I’ve got most of the venue relationships at home, the streams. but that moment reminded me how many people would trade places just to call music their full-time job. I actually still like to listen to music a lot.
none of this happened without cleveland. every ounce of respect, love, encouragement, support this city has shown me is the reason i even got to have a day like this. that’s what set it in for me. this city built me before anybody else believed in me.
Thank you DJ Bonics for just literally being you. simple. thank you DJ Jettfor being my T-Pain stunt double and letting me play Finger Eleven and Metro Station in between the sets. thank you buffalo, new york. thank you MGK for really being at the cove in geneva and taking it everywhere else. thank you cleveland, always." - Tre Smith
